2010 Festival Programme

Thursday 4 March  A great start to make it an extra long weekend.........

7.00am International Women’s Day Breakfast come along and celebrate International Women’s Day – guest speaker & music.  Alpine Gate Café, Great Alpine Road.  Breakfast at own cost.

10am-3pm Myrtleford Men’s Shed Open Day – visitors welcome. Myrtleford Men’s Shed, Myrtleford Hospital, Standish Street.

6.00pm Pioneer Cemetery Walk Learn of the contribution of District Pioneers to community life, hear about local heroes & tragic lives. Myrtleford Pioneer Cemetery, O’Donnell Avenue.

Friday 5 March:

10am-5pm Art & Photography Exhibition  Over 330 exhibits from local and regional artists. Anglican Church Hall, Great Alpine Road.  Entry: $2.00

10am-5pm School Art & Photography Exhibition at The Butter Factory, Great Alpine Road.  Gold Coin Donation.

7.30pm Official Launch  Presentation of Past Festival Queens, official opening of the 50th Myrtleford Festival and presentation of 2010 Festival Princesses to the public.  "The Old Picture Theatre", Myrtle Street (Great Alpine Road)

8.30pm Lions Club Festival Ball Presentation of Festival Princesses & crowning of Festival Queen. Myrtleford Savoy Sporting Club, Great Alpine Road.

Saturday 6 March: 

Local tours departing Myrtleford Visitor Information Centre at 9am (approx. 3 hour tour).  Contact the Visitor Information Centre for more details and bookings on (03) 5752 1044.

9am-1pm Myrtleford Community Produce Market Fresh plant produce, preserves, honey, freshly baked muffins & coffee.  Anglican Church grounds, Clyde Street.

9am–3pm Saturday Market Retailers & stall holders combine – produce, clothing, jewellery, food court & entertainment. Clyde & Queen Streets.

9.30am-5pm A Celebration in Flowers and Embroidery A wonderful celebration in all types of needlework, including quilts displayed in the beautiful ambience of the Uniting Church.  Myrtleford Uniting Church, Myrtle Street.  Entry: $6.00

10.00am Story Time in the Park Story time for kids with free face painting. Myrtleford Library, O’Donnell Avenue.

10am-5pm Art & Photography Exhibition Over 330 exhibits from local and regional artists. Anglican Church Hall, Great Alpine Road.  Entry: $2.00

10am-5pm School Art & Photography Exhibition at The Butter Factory, Great Alpine Road.  Gold Coin Donation.

11.00am-2.00pm Wangaratta Rod & Custom Club Rod Run Up to 80 Rods on display. Standish & Clyde Streets.

11.30am Starz Dance Studio Performances by young locals. Queen Street.

12pm-2pm Live Music – Local band The Parks. Queen Street.

1.30pm “Laugh in the Park” Laughter Yoga – a fund & unique form of exercise suitable for everyone! Jubilee Park, Great Alpine Road.

2pm–5pm 50th Anniversary – Museum Open Days View the Museum collection of District memorabilia, including a tribute to 50 years of festivities. Old School Museum, 29 Elgin Street. Entry: $2.00 Adults: 50c Children

3.30pm Albury Wodonga Pipes & Drums Band Pipe band entertainment

4.30pm Rotary Street Parade  Variety of floats representing businesses, service clubs, schools and performers. Welcome back past Festival Queens. Departing Duke Street thru Standish & Clyde Streets.

5.30pm Thank You from Alpine Shire Official Thank You to Volunteers of the 2009 Bushfire Recovery Effort. Queen Street.

6pm-10pm Street Party Live music from Orange Blossom and Barb Waters & The Mothers of Pearl and stunning Bellydance performances by Saahirah Rayvn and KaZena. Food court and refreshments. Gather with family & friends. Queen Street.

9.30 pm Entertainment til late - Myrtleford Hotel, Standish Street.

Sunday 7 March:

7.30am Breakfast in the Park hearty breaky provided by the Rotary Club. Rotary Park, Great Alpine Road. Cost $6.00

8.30am Tai Chi in the Park Rotary Park, Great Alpine Road.

8.30am Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at The Butter Factory before taking the climb to Reform Hill.

9am-11am Reform Hill Bush Walk Join the Friends of Reform Hill for a comfortable walk and enjoy learning about local history. Meet at Jones Reserve, Great Alpine Road.

9.00am Dog Sport Demo Agility, flyball, conformation, CGC obedience, information stall - free hand outs. Organised by Ovens Valley Canine Club. McNamara Reserve, Lewis Avenue.

9.00am Bocce Competition Bocce competition organised by Savoy Bocce Club. Myrtleford Savoy Sporting Club, Great Alpine Road.

9.30am Rostrevor Family Bike Ride (Push) Registration at 9am - ride from Rotary Park along the bike trail to Gapsted Cricket Ground for family fun & games and then return to Rotary Park. Meet at Rotary Park, Great Alpine Road.

9.30am Moto 2010 Fun motorcycle ride for all who enjoy riding – sponsored by Eaglerange Estate Wines and Happy Valley Hotel. Departs Rotary Park and finishes at Happy Valley Hotel, Ovens. Free – any donations to Lions Club.

10.00am Deliciously Dramatic Workshop by Saahirah Rayvn. Bookings essential. Workshop for Belly dancers of all genres, focusing on turn Basic into Stunning! Registrations from 9am. Myrtleford Savoy Sporting Club, Great Alpine Road. Registration Fee: $35.00

1pm–5pm Pool Open Day Free entry – fun games & great prizes. Myrtleford Swimming Pool, Standish Street.

3.00pm Golden Jubilee Thanksgiving Festival Service Ecumenical service – with local singers and musicians. St Mary’s Catholic Church, Lawrence Street.

6.00pm Mad Hatter’s Tea Party Myrtleford Theatre Troupe performing Alice in Wonderland looking for the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. Myrtleford Showgrounds, Myrtleford-Yackandandah Road. Entry: Gold Coin Donation.

6.30 pm Italian Style Buffet Authentic Italian buffet. Savoy Sporting Club, Great Alpine Road. 

8.00pm Open Air Movie followed by Fireworks. Movie - Alvin & the Chipmunks 2 - rated PG.  Enjoy a family evening under the stars. Catering by Myrtleford Football Netball Club. Myrtleford Showgrounds, Myrtleford-Yackandandah Road.
